Central Bank Does Not Foresee Climb in Exchange Rate

The Banco Central de Costa Rica (BCCR) - Central Bank - says it does not foresee a strong climb in the exchange rate in the short term as some financial institutions fear.
The dollar spiralled abruptly earlier this month against the Costa Rican colon when the Banco Nacional (BN) raised the exchange rate by ¢5 colones overnight and continued to climb to its highest level (¢527.82 for the buy) before the Central Bank intervened.

Costa Rica among top countries in tourism competitiveness

I-Com CR. —The World Economic Forum (WEF) has launched its 2008 Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report, in which Costa Rica placed second in Latin America and the Caribbean and first in Central America in tourism competitiveness.
In Latin America and the Caribbean, Costa Rica only trails Barbados, which ranks 29th worldwide. Costa Rica is 44th among all ranked nations.

Guanacaste is 4th in construction in first quarter

Parking area at Liberia Airport to be expanded

(Infocom) - Five new spaces for airplane parking will be built at Liberia’s Daniel Oduber International Airport.
These five new spots will bring to 12 the available parking spaces at the Guanacastecan airport, which are expected to make its platform capable of attending the 200 monthly flights that this terminal receives.
